Wertech CC, a Parasols and Wash-line company was founded in 1992 by Werner Erne after returning from Switzerland with his family. The inspiration for Wertech came from Werner’s experience as a toolmaker as well as his experience in constructing frames for companies such as Leisure Sun who specialised in awnings.
With a team of only 5 people, Wertech soon expanded their offering and included wash-lines and awnings to their lists of services. Over the years Wertech has grown to a team of 12 people who proudly manufacture parasols, awnings and wash-lines for some of the biggest companies in South Africa including Distell, KWV and Edward Snell & Co. The bulk of their work comes from the bigger liquor brands that’s “the reason why we got the Mimaki UJV55-320 printer, design is getting more complex, screen printing is not quite cutting it hence why we made the decision to bring in modern technology”.
Wertech has become a family-run business with Werner’s eldest son, Daniel, taking care of logistics, sales and management whilst instilling the same craftsmanship and attention to detail that the Swiss have become known for.
Situated in Quantum Park, in Somerset West, Wertech will continue to provide outstanding quality services and products delivered across South Africa.
In February 2019, they received their delivery of the Mimaki UJV55-320 a super wide format UV inkjet printer, rated 2016 Product of the Year. The Mimaki UJV55-320 grand format LED UV inkjet printer delivers a unique combination of high quality super wide output for volume production of banners, retail, exhibition and window graphics and other similar applications up to 3.2m wide, with the added versatility of twin-roll simultaneous printing.
We had the pleasure of speaking to Daniel Erne, Junior Director and son of Werner Erne. When asked why they made the important decision to go with the Mimaki and GSW, he had this to share: “We were looking for a printer from various makes and models from Germany, Switzerland and Japan. GSW we heard through word of mouth. They offered the best solutions and the best value for money, the other machines where much more expensive”.
“We have been very happy with the overall customer service, delivery was on time, we were constantly kept up to date, we have support with our Mimaki printer and the tech. team are always on standby assisting with any issues, they really go out of their way.” Wesley Groeneveld, Wertech’s sales rep from Graphix Supply World “explained everything prior to buying the UJV55, and went out of his way to print on our canvas and provided printed samples from the same machine, that’s what convinced us, Wesley pops by to check if everything is sorted ” on a regular basis.
Daniel mentions in the future they would consider another Mimaki, once they’ve settled down, for now “the printer is going well”.
Wertech have more to offer than beautifully printed parasols, did someone say solar power? This is what Werner founder of Wertech CC shares with us: “Wertech CC has now become the first manufacturer in SA to start making solar electric parasols. Our solar electric parasols have a built in motor allowing you to open and close the parasol with just the push of a button.
The parasols also have a motherboard allowing it to be programmed and built to your personal specification. So if you have one parasol or even five they can all be programmed to open together. Other options that can be added on and programmed into the system include lighting and USB charging ports, with other options currently in the pipeline. We offer the solar electric parasol in sizes ranging from 2 m – 3.2 m. The parasol can be powered by solar or conventional methods depending on your preference.”
Wertech really are ahead of the game with their advanced printing and solar technology!
We are incredibly grateful for their support and loyalty towards GSW and Mimaki. Welcome to the family!
